- Internationally: Not required by law — employers and site operators require it by contract.
Who trains and assesses
An IECEx-accredited Certification Body (ExCB) performs the assessment and issues the certificate.

- CompEx Ex01–Ex04: Ex electrical equipment, gas & vapours: Comparable content, separate schemes. An employer specifies one.
